Peony season may be months and months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t indulge in a little wedding goodness filled with their pink, fluffy loveliness. It’s the epitome of springtime elegance and it has everything to do with Sugar Rush Events, Poppy Stone, Sweet On Cake, One True Love Vintage Rentals and the whole team of vendors behind this wildly romantic day. From Sugar Rush Events…When soft textured linens and florals meets hard elements and clean straight lines it’s a recipe for a beautiful wedding design. Our inspiration was modern elegance with just a touch of vintage details dabbled here and there. Michele and Benny loved modern and elegant details, but they craved that softness and romance that vintage brings to the table. We blended the two by using dark wood catalan tables and beautifully etched china and flatware on their guests tables and allowed the florals to the do vintage talking here. Beautiful burgundy, pink, peach, ivory flowers popped off the dark wood tables and brought life and richness to the design. In the barn we kept the design clean, and popped formal with the chandeliers and vintage lounge furniture; which were all highlighted with stunning lighting details. The couples fun personality could be seen in the custom dessert sequent backdrop and dog place card holder. From start to finish, this couples event brought their style, their love and their vision to life!
From The Bride…Our top priority was having our wedding be a relaxed party with family and friends. Benny is half-Thai and half-Chinese and his parents own a restaurant so needless to say, he was thinking about the food even before we were officially engaged. Sage did an amazing job of putting a modern twist on the 4-course Thai dinner (and the coconut pot de creme dessert, which our guests are still talking about!). Benny is not much of a dessert person and I love dessert so I happily took on cake tasting with my dessert-loving family. I kept hearing about Amber and her mother Heather and their amazing banana cake. Once I tasted that cake, I knew we had to have it since it reminded me so much of the banana bread my mom made while growing up.
Another one of our priorities was making sure all the details represented us. Our venue had everything we were looking for – an outdoor ceremony site, dinner under a tent and dancing in the barn. It had a rustic feel but was still elegant because of the tent. We love neutrals (our favorite color is grey) and added hints of gold/metallics, with pops of color that came through in the flowers. Since our French Bulldog, Peaty, couldn’t be there with us, we had to make sure he was there in spirit, so we made Frenchie escort cards so everyone could have a little bit of Peaty. One of our favorite ways to unwind is to catch up on our favorite TV shows while Benny enjoys a glass of scotch and I have a homemade cookie (or two) and we thought, what better way to share that with our guests than hand out “our favorite ways to end the night” (favor bags filled with his: a mini bottle of scotch and hers: a trio of fresh baked cookies).
It’s tough to narrow it down to just one moment but I can easily pick my favorite two. The anticipation leading up to seeing Benny, walking towards the tunnel where our first look was, seeing his smile and tears and having that moment alone with him. I’ll also never forget being under the dinner tent and seeing all the people we love all in one place, sharing in laughs and smiles.
There are so many wedding vendors out there so be sure to trust your gut. Although I’m very indecisive, once I met our photographer, Christina, and our florist, Claire, I knew it was fate. When I came home after meeting them, I told Benny, it was just like coming home from a first date, I just had this feeling and I knew they were the ones! From the moment we decided on Christina and Claire, I had my utmost trust in them…I didn’t have to tell them what I was envisioning, they just made everything happen and did what they do best.
From Poppy Stone…The Bride wanted designs that looked full and lush while still appearing natural but controlled. We brought in a metallic with gold mercury glass footed urns and candle holders to help elevate the look into a more elegant vibe for dinner.
